One of the primary ways that we get into God’s Word, and get God’s Word into us is through singing (Colossians 3:16). This is why, no matter the CrossPoint location you attend, you will find various expressions of singing. Singing songs that are theologically rich and centered on Christ connects us as a church in the 21st century to believers in the first century. We don’t sing primarily because we like to (because we very well may not like it), but because we are commanded to.
There are many reasons why we sing, but the greatest should be out of joyful obedience to God. After all, God commands our joy. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4). God also commands us to sing songs that are new, which means that the church should write new songs for the church to sing (Psalm 98:1). God has been gracious to give CrossPoint Church some gifted songwriters, creatives, and musicians. There’s not one person to point at, but rather, we bring our many gifts together as a church in order to point to Jesus.
I’m over the top excited to announce the release of the first song we have recorded, “This Is The Day (Rejoice!)”. It’s available everywhere. You can download or stream it on your favorite platform. As I write this, I’m reminded that we have a unique blessing in this digital age to take the songs we sing with us on the go. Through the gospel, songs have the power to make a difference in you as you make a difference in the lives of others. My prayer is that this song will function like portable theology to help the Word of Christ dwell richly in your heart in the places you live, work, and play.
